Springspeed Nationals 2010
Well after yet another wet and cold meeting, we ended up with another closely fought qualifying session (s) won by mere thousandths of a second again. This time Paul Bainton came out on top after narrowly beating Rick McCann by 2 thousandths of a second. Rick thought he had it in the bag right up until the last round when Paul snatched it from him. Paul was already qualified No.3 and had missed two rounds due to engine and oil pressure problems, so that made the No.1 even better for him.

Eliminations started with, I'm afraid to say, the usual problems at Shakespeare County Raceway. A strangely layed out ladder for the pairings. ! Drivers and teams looking at each other bemused as to how this had happened. A vigorous march down to the control tower, and yours truly sorted the problem out, leaving the tower with most of my teeth still in my mouth!
We were off and Tig (Dave Napier) pulling the most massive wheelie he had done in his career and very happy with it, he was too. Rounds went by and the final ended up with Paul against Rick. No's 1 and 2 qualifiers. The way it is meant to be. Unfortunately due to rain, it was stopped there and we never got to find out who would have won that epic final. Both proven winners in the past desperately wanting to take the others crown. We will have to wait and see another day.
Thanks for report Mike.
